Get Kaive

We're in the app stores shortly. Until then, here are two ways to install it. The first works on any phone and takes about ten seconds.

Install from your browser

Works on iPhone and Android. No app store, no warnings.

iPhone

  1. Open this page in Safari (it has to be Safari)
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen

Android

  1. Open this page in Chrome
  2. Tap the three dots, top right
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen

Android app (for testing devices)

Only needed if you're testing watch sync or the home screen widget.

Android will warn you about installing from outside the Play Store. That warning is correct and you should normally heed it, only continue because you know where this file came from.

What you'll be asked

  1. Chrome says the file may harm your device. Tap Download anyway.
  2. Open the downloaded file. Android says this source isn't allowed to install unknown apps. Tap Settings, turn the permission on, then go back.
  3. Play Protect may say unsafe app blocked. Tap More details, then Install anyway.

iPhone app

Coming via TestFlight.

Apple doesn't allow installing apps from outside the App Store, so there is no equivalent of the Android download. Until TestFlight invitations go out, the browser install above is the way in, everything works except Apple Health sync and Bluetooth sensors.

What works where

  • Browser install on Android, everything except watch sync and the home screen widget. Heart rate straps and other Bluetooth sensors do work, because Chrome on Android supports Web Bluetooth.
  • Browser install on iPhone, everything except Apple Health and Bluetooth sensors. Safari has no Web Bluetooth, and every iPhone browser is built on Safari, so no browser on an iPhone can pair a sensor.
  • Android app, everything, including Health Connect and the widget.
