Kaive vs TrainingPeaks: self-coached vs coached athlete
TrainingPeaks is the benchmark platform for coached endurance athletes and has the best coach marketplace in the sport. Kaive is built for self-coached athletes who also track nutrition, sleep and strength. Both show the same load model: Fitness, Fatigue and Form are the same three curves TrainingPeaks brands as a Performance Management Chart. If you have a human coach who uses TrainingPeaks, stay there. If you are self-coached and juggling separate apps for training, food, sleep and strength, Kaive is built for that.

Where TrainingPeaks is genuinely better
The coach marketplace is real and active. Thousands of accredited coaches list on it, athletes can browse by sport, level and coaching style, and the coach-to-athlete delivery workflow is excellent. If you want a human coach, TrainingPeaks is where to find one.
Their coached-athlete workflow is years ahead. Plan handover, athlete comments, coach review of individual sessions and the whole two-way relationship are built into the product. Kaive has an AI coach and no way for a human one to work alongside you.
They are also the incumbent, which matters more than it sounds. If your club, your squad or your training partners all use TrainingPeaks, sharing a plan is trivial there and awkward anywhere else.
Where Kaive does something TrainingPeaks cannot
Kaive's coaching can see training load, nutrition, sleep, recovery and strength in one view. TrainingPeaks can see training load. That is the difference. A training plateau caused by undereating on heavy training days is invisible from inside a training-only tool.
The cross-domain view is not a convenience feature. It is the reason the coaching is able to find the thing that is blocking you when the separate apps cannot. The data was already there: the problem was that it lived in five places that could not see each other.
Who should switch, and who should not
Switch if you are:
Self-coached athletes who currently use TrainingPeaks alongside separate nutrition, sleep and strength trackers, and want one tool that can reason across all of them.
Stay if you are:
Athletes with a human coach who uses TrainingPeaks. The coach-to-athlete tools and the plan delivery workflow are there for a reason, and Kaive has no equivalent of the coached-athlete experience.
Questions people ask
- Does Kaive have a Performance Management Chart?
- It has the same chart under different names. Kaive shows Fitness, a 42 day weighted average of your training load, Fatigue, a 7 day one, and Form, the difference between them. That is the Banister impulse-response model with the time constants Coggan popularised, which is exactly what sits behind a PMC. Performance Management Chart, CTL, ATL, TSB and TSS are Peaksware trademarks. The mathematics is not owned by anybody, so Kaive uses plain descriptive names for the same three curves.
- Can I read my TrainingPeaks numbers on Kaive?
- The shapes will look familiar because the model is the same, but the absolute numbers will not line up exactly. Load is scored from your own zones and thresholds, so the curves depend on how those are set in each tool. Trends, peaks and taper timing transfer. Specific values do not.
- Can I find a human coach through Kaive?
- No. Kaive does not have a coach marketplace. The AI coach reasons across your full data set, but if you want a human coach who sets your plan and gives feedback, TrainingPeaks is the right place to look.
- Which is better for triathlon?
- For coached triathlon, TrainingPeaks with a real coach is the standard. For self-coached triathlon with a broader view of nutrition and recovery, Kaive covers all three disciplines and the surrounding context.
- Does Kaive support structured workouts?
- Yes. You can build and follow structured workouts with heart rate or power targets, and Kaive delivers them to your smart trainer in ERG mode if you are riding indoors.
